Carl Moser, at 83, is North Carolina’s preeminent
master photographer. His photographs evoke powerful feelings
about the American heartland, and reflect his own deeply felt
love for the land and its people. He reminds us of a way of
life which is fast disappearing, whereby man lived in harmony
with his world.
|
He reveals the
unmatched beauty of Nature, and man’s intrinsic place in it.
We can experience once again our primeval harmony with our
world, and long for its return.
His style is reminiscent of Classical Romantic
painters, in that it adheres to time-honored rules of
composition, color harmony, and expression. Capturing the
subtleties of light, color, and atmosphere, he creates
photographs with the trained eye of an artist, lending a sense
of timelessness and poetic beauty to his work. He sees
beauty where others might not. Frequently, he will stop to
photograph a scene that others have passed over, not seeing
any beauty in it. He both sees and records the cool shade, the
tranquility, the placid air, and the playful sunlight.
