“The world is not to be put in order, the world is order incarnate. It is for us to put ourselves in unison with this order.”
                        ------- Henry Miller

Backpacking in the mountains of North Carolina inspired a lifelong passion for wild placesin Milt Hawes.  As he walked along in the silence of the forests, he felt himself open to God. He encountered a shimmering perfection which seemed to him to suffuse every particle in Nature. He saw it most clearly in the manifestations of light: the way light scattered in a misty forest, the dancing illumination on flowing waterfalls, and the delicate radiance of glowing petals on wildflowers. He began photographing that sacred world, hoping to capture with his cameras that mysterious mingling of earthly with divine, of creation and Creator.

This has been his way of life for more than 30 years.  His greatest happiness is found in spending countless hours immersed in the play of light, waiting for the sun, clouds,  heavens, and earth, to dance their way into a moment of  sublime perfection.  His transcendent images can open us to a state of quiet contemplation of the divine. His intention is to spend the rest of his life traveling the world with his cameras, capturing sacred moments for all of us.
